Abstract

Pulsed fiber lasers and amplifiers in the wavelength region around one micron have seen a dramatic increase in average output power, peak power and pulse energy over the last decade. Recently, these advances have been extended towards the two micron region by the first demonstrations of very large mode area Tm-doped photonic crystal fibers [1,2]. In this work we present the latest progress for Q-switched Tm-doped fiber oscillators.
