Abstract
High-power pico-second lasers with high beam-quality have been intensely sought for various industrial and science applications, including micromachining, laser display, and nonlinear frequency conversion. To date, pico-second phase-conjugate master-oscillator power amplifiers (PC-MOPA) utilizing a diode-pumped Nd doped vanadate slab bounce amplifier in combination with a photorefractive phase-conjugate mirror based on rhodium-doped barium titanate (Rh:BaTiO3) have been successfully demonstrated to produce high power (~26W, >2 MW) and near-diffraction-limited pico-second output by our group[1]. The output power is impacted by parasitic oscillation due to an extremely high gain (>104) in the amplifier with multi-pass geometry.
