Abstract

Usually, two steps of nonlinear frequency conversion processes are used in order to obtain continuous-wave (cw) laser emission in the deep-ultraviolet (DUV) spectral range [1,2]. In general these methods are expendable and complicated. Recently, cw generation at 261.3 nm has been obtained by intracavity frequency doubling of a Praseodymium (Pr)-doped LiYF4 (YLF) solid state laser pumped by an optically pumped semiconductor laser (OPS) [3]. Another possibility for pumping Pr:YLF lasers is given by laser diodes (LD) emitting at 444 nm [4]. In this contribution we report on cw UV generation by intracavity frequency doubling of a LD pumped Pr:YLF laser operating at 523.6 nm.
