Abstract

We present the first ultrafast all-optical switching measurements of photonic band gap crystals at telecom frequencies. Switching 3D photonic band gap crystals is expected to provide dynamic control of active photonic integrated circuits, over the switching-on or -off of light sources, and the capture or release of photons from photonic band gap cavities [1],
