Abstract

The polarization mode dispersion PMD in a single mode fiber with randomly varying birefringence depends on two parameters, namely beat length (L_b) and birefringence correlation length (L_c) [1]. Measuring of both lengths returns information about PMD value and, therefore, information about applicability of the fiber optic link for high-speed communication.
