Abstract

Multiwavelength mode-locked lasers have applications in wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) transmission systems, fibre-optic sensing, optical instrumentation and optical signal processing. This paper describes an SOA and Lyot filter based multiwavelength actively mode-locked fibre ring laser capable of producing 18 mode-locked wavelength channels each containing a 2GHz repetition rate pulse train having a pulse width of approximately 95pS.
