Self-adaptive WDM transmitter operating under temporary ASE-injection

Abstract

Recently, many efforts have been carried out towards the development of wavelength-selection-free optical transmitters for the WDM-passive optical networks (WDM-PONs). The general feature of these transmitters is their operating wavelength set under optical injection from a spectrally sliced amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) distant source [1]. Because they operate under continuous external light injection, excess intensity noise is induced into the photoreceiver passband due to spontaneous-spontaneous beat noise.
