Abstract
A number of promising THz applications critically depend on the transmission properties and the mode confinement behavior of waveguides, because they help to enhance field amplitudes by transversally confining the propagating mode far beyond the free-space diffraction limit. In order to retrieve spectroscopic information from a sample it is furthermore necessary to have a waveguide with both, low attenuation and low dispersion characteristics over a broad frequency range.
