Abstract

The aim of the LUCIA program (Laser Ultra-Court Intense and Applications) is to set up a diode pumped solid state laser chain resulting in a pulse duration in the order of nanoseconds, up to 100 J per pulse and a repetition rate of 1 to 10 Hz. This chain consists of an oscillator, called “Pilote LUCIA” (P.L.) and two amplifiers with Yb:YAG directly pumped by laser diodes. Possible future applications for LUCIA are laser-matter interactions in the field of physics or surface treatment for industrial purposes.
