Abstract

Poly cry stalline ceramic Nd:YAG laser material enables new possibilities in laser medium design with respect to dopant concentration as well as distribution, size and geometry [1], In this paper we report on a passively Q-switched core-doped Nd:YAG laser, which is end-pumped by a laser diode stack. To suppress ASE and especially parasitic ring modes the cladding consists of Sm:YAG, which is transparent at the pump wavelength of 808 nm and absorbs at the laser wavelength of 1064 nm.
