Three-dimensional waveguide coupler/beam splitter in lithium niobate crystals by femtosecond laser writing

Abstract

We report on the fabrication of three-dimensional (3D) waveguide coupler in lithium niobate crystal by using femtosecond laser writing based on laser-induced extraordinary index changes of Type I modification. This coupler is used to implement 1×4 beam splitting at 632.8 nm. The numerical simulations of beam evolution are in agreement with the experimental results.
