Electrically tunable whispering gallery mode resonator based on liquid-crystal-infiltrated silica capillary

Abstract

A tunable whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonator based on nematic-liquid-crystal-infiltrated silica capillary is presented in this paper. WGM wavelength shift is achieved by exploiting the birefringence effect of liquid crystal triggered by applied electric field.
