Heterodyne Terahertz Detectors based on Plasmonic Photomixers

Abstract

A new scheme for heterodyne terahertz detection through plasmonic photomixing is presented, which offers significant enhancement in detection sensitivity and bandwidth at room temperature. We experimentally demonstrate a first proof-of-concept design operating at ~0.1 THz.
