Fiber-Optic Current Sensor in 420 kV Circuit Breaker

Abstract

We report on an interferometric fiber-optic current sensor and its integration into a high voltage circuit breaker. Results and conclusions are presented from laboratory tests and an extended field trial in a high voltage substation.
