Giant spatial phase distortion in nonspecularly reflected beams

Abstract

We demonstrate for the first time that nonspecular reflection could lead to strong spatial phase variation across the beam profile besides the known intensity distortion. This discovery has profound implications for phase-related applications involving sensing.
