Application Study of Clipping and Digital Resolution Enhancer for Low-Resolution High-Speed IM/DD PAM4 Transmission

Abstract

The performance of clipping and digital resolution enhancer (DRE) has been studied numerically in 56-GBaud IM/DD PAM4 systems. Significant OSNR performance improvement can be obtained in low-resolution IM/DD PAM4 systems by combing clipping and DRE.
