Abstract

A new structure composed of silica optical fiber for hyperthermia is proposed and fabricated. Laser ablation and temperature monitoring are simultaneously performed using a wavelength division multiplexing technique with a single optical fiber. The fabricated device shows a very fine temperature resolution of 0.06 °C. Laser light of 1.48 μm wavelength with only 24.3 mW shows a sufficient temperature increase for hyperthermia.
