Abstract

In this paper, a novel photonic-assisted compressive sampling system based on a directly-modulated laser (DML) is proposed. We demonstrate that the proposed sensing system enables signal acquisition (from 500 MHz to 5 GHz) using a 500-MHz analog-to-digital converter (ADC), indicating its promising applications in electromagnetic countermeasure. The performance of the system under nonlinear interference is characterized by spurious free dynamic range (SFDR), measured as 76.52 dB Hz2/3 experimentally.
