Abstract

A self-adaptive ac current sensor based on two opposite bias magnetic circuits and two cascaded fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) is successfully demonstrated. Adaptive ac current detection is achieved by the magnetic circuit design where the two FBGs are engineered to have differential spectral responses to the current and are installed side-by-side at almost the same location. The sensitivity of 11.4 mV/A is achieved.
