Abstract

We demonstrated a spot size converter integrated electroabsorption modulator associated with dual waveguide structure, which showed the optical insertion loss of - 8 dB, the extinction ratio of 14 dB. The electrical S11 was smaller than - 12 dB and S21 was larger than - 2.6 dB up to the 60 GHz. The alignment tolerance with the additional 3 dB loss was ± 2.95 urn for horizontal and ± 2.75 urn for vertical directions.
