Abstract

This talk will describe recent progress at the UK's Central Laser Facility, concentrating on high power and ultrashort pulse development projects. Extension of the Vulcan glass laser from IPetawatt to lOPetawatts, commissioning the Astra-Gemini Ti: Sapphire PW laser, and plans for a European scale "fast ignition "fusion laser, HiPER, will be covered.
