Effective Area Scaling of the Multifilament Fiber Core

Abstract

Multifilament fiber core (MFC) design enables low NA fiber using high index materials. We study the scaling of MFC effective area using an effective step-index model. MFC fiber mixes step index and multicore fibers properties.
