Abstract

When pumping at a short wavelength of 932 nm, the high gain obtained at the 981-nm zero-phonon line of a KY(WO<sup>4</sup>)<sup>2</sup>:Gd<sup>3+</sup>, Lu<sup>3+</sup>, Yb<sup>3+</sup>planar waveguide resulted in efficient laser emission in an open cavity configuration.
