Broadband Gain from “Continuum-to-bound” Quantum Cascade Lasers

Abstract

A Quantum Cascade laser design based on “continuum-to-bound” transitions with several strongly coupled upper laser states is demonstrated, which enables external cavity tuning over 190 cm−1 in pulsed mode operation at 0°C.
