Abstract

We demonstrate amplified spontaneous emission from close-packed, II-VI quantum dot (QD) thin films at record low threshold excitation energy corresponding to ~1.2 effective exciton number per QD. Photon statistics from single QDs illustrates the role of excitonic interactions at excitation conditions corresponding to lasing threshold.
