Bidirectional mode-locked fiber ring laser using passively controlled threshold gating

Abstract

An innovative technique to achieve bidirectional mode-locking of a fiber ring laser is demonstrated using two amplitude modulators passively driven by a signal regenerated from the laser’s own 5.1MHz repetition rate.
