Observation of degenerate and non-degenerate lateral-mode patterns in mid-IR Quantum Cascade lasers

Abstract

We investigate near-field lateral mode patterns of Quantum Cascade wide-ridge lasers using a spatially-resolving spectrometer. The results support box-model theory and, show that lateral mode pattern can be made either degenerate or non-degenerate in frequency.
