Ultrafast Organic Photonic Crystal Optical Switching

Abstract

An all-optical switching with an ultrafast response time of femtosecond order is demonstrated in a two-dimensional polystyrene photonic crystal excited by a 9.7 MW/cm2 pump laser. High switching efficiency of about 70% is achieved.
