Rapid detection of cryptosporidium parvum oocysts using coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy

Abstract

We demonstrate the application of CARS microscopy for the rapid, label-free detection of water-borne pathogen, Cryptosporidium parvum at the single oocyst level. Polarization sensitivity in E-CARS images can be used to positively identify the oocysts.
