Photonic Crystal Enhanced Fluorescence

Abstract

A new platform for fluorescence enhancement incorporating photonic crystal slabs is demonstrated. Fluorescence enhancement occurs by the effect of leaky eigenmodes that serve to enhance near-field intensities and simultaneously provide enhanced extraction.
