Characterization of UV-Induced Benzocyclobutene Optical Waveguides

Abstract

Single-mode non-ridge benzocyclobutene optical waveguides fabricated by excimer laser illumination are presented. The induced index change is about 0.003 after 50 shots of laser pulse exposure. The propagation loss at 1548nm is about 0.6dB/cm.
