Correlation between timing jitter of optical clock and self-pulsation characteristics in all-optical clock extraction using a self-pulsating laser diode

Abstract

All-optical clock recovery is performed using a laser diode that can generate two kinds of self-pulsation due to mode beating and mode locking. We experimentally compare obtainable timing jitter of optical clock with self-pulsation characteristics.
