5-μJ Pulses at 12 MHz from a Femtosecond Passively Mode-Locked Thin Disk Laser

Abstract

We demonstrate an Yb:YAG thin disk laser generating 5-μJ pulses with 800-fs duration and >60 W average power. It operated in helium atmosphere, because the nonlinearity of air is critical for pulse energy scaling.
