Enhanced Sensitivity to Index Changes of the Surrounding Medium for High Order Modes of Etched-Core Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors

Abstract

The sensitivity of the third order mode to an index change is increased by a factor 6 as compared to the fundamental mode for a fiber etched to a core diameter of 5μm.
