Broadband Pulse Propagation with Electromagnetically Induced Transparency: Splitting of Adiabatic and Nonadiabatic Components

Abstract

The propagation of a broadband pulse through a dense resonant medium with a narrow transparency window is considered. We show that the pulse splits into a slowly propagating adiabatic part and a fast nonadiabatic part.
