Large reciprocal polarization rotation in planar chiral metal nanostructures

Abstract

We observe large reciprocal rotation in quasi-2D chiral metal gratings. The effect originates from asymmetric coupling of surface modes centered at the air and substrate interfaces and violates neither reciprocity nor reversality of light-matter interaction.
