Abstract

An OC-192 all-optical non-return-to-zero-to-pseudo-return-to-zero data-format converter with 1.5dB power penalty at bit-error-rate of <10−9 is demonstrated by employing an optical-injection-induced threshold reduction technique to gain-switch a Fabry-Perot laser diode synchronously modulated at below threshold condition.
