Chirp-Controlled Soliton Fission in Tapered Optical Fibers

Abstract

Manipulation of the input pulse chirp during supercontinuum generation in tapered fibers provides precise control of the soliton fission process, and can be applied to compensate for deleterious effects due to untapered pigtails.
