Abstract

Semiconductor optical amplifiers offer a wide range of optical processing functions including WDM signal amplification, optical gating, all-optical signal processing like wavelength conversion, regeneration, demultiplexing, logic functions, … This tutorial will review the progress of SOA-based functions exploiting both linear and non linear operation.
