Noise reduction in fiber ring lasers by use of a semiconductor optical amplifier

Abstract

We analyze the high-pass filtering characteristics of the SOAs and show that the SOA carrier lifetime and saturation power will have important influence on its applications of beating noise suppression in fiber ring lasers.
