Broadband grating coupling of light into waveguides for characterizing photonic crystals

Abstract

We report a method of investigating photonic crystals in planar waveguides by coupling short pulses into the waveguide using gratings. With this method the transmission spectrum can be measured within a spectral range of 90nm.
