Fabrication and characterization of microstructured optical fibres with elliptical holes

Abstract

The fabrication of the first microstructured optical fibre with elliptical holes is presented. We describe simple techniques for achieving the desired hole ellipticity in polymer fibre and discuss the light guiding and polarization properties.
