Biomolecular sensor based on optical spectroscopy of single gold nanoparticles

Abstract

Light-scattering spectroscopy on single gold nanoparticles is used to detect molecular binding events. We show that our method is able to detect less than 200 molecular binding events under physiological condidtions.
