Improved distortion and dispersion tolerance of 4-level 40Gb/s signals in amplified datacommunications links

Abstract

We show that 4-level 40Gb/s modulation in an amplified link has a 3dB greater tolerance to amplifier distortions and improved dispersion performance compared to the 2-level equivalent.
