The onset and breakdown of passive mode locking with a parabolic gain spectrum

Abstract

An explicit analysis of an important passively mode locked lasers class with a parabolic gain profile is derived, using a recently developed statistical mechanics approach. Mode locking occurs when the normalized inverse noise power γ = 9.
