Temporal and spectral characteristics of a femtosecond laser pulse interacted with a Raman active medium

Abstract

We observed self-narrowing and reshaping of a femtosecond pulse accompanied by development of rotational Raman emissions of hydrogen. This fact implies the generation of coherently phased spectral components based on four-wave Raman mixing.
