Compensation of nonlinear phase jitter in DPSK modulated optical communications systems

Abstract

A nonlinear phase jitter compensator is demonstrated in a DPSK optical communication system. The compensator emulates a negative nonlinear refractive index, correcting phase impairments caused by the combination of ASE noise and the Kerr effect.
