Abstract

A theoretical model of a synchronously pumped Raman laser in the transient regime predicts 80% conversion into the 1st Stokes at nonzero cavity length mismatch. Quasi-cw radiation can be expected from a high-finesse Raman laser cavity even if pumped synchronously.
