Abstract
Energy of a long low-intensity laser beam can be efficiently transferred to a femtosecond counter-propagating laser pulse in the plasma. The amplified pulse forms a stable three-dimensional soliton which is compressed in all three dimensions. Overview of theoretical and experimental efforts will be given.
