Monitoring of glycated hemoglobin in a whole blood by refractive index measurement with OCT

Abstract

OCT measurements of refractive index of whole blood and hemoglobin solution at different concentrations of glucose were provided. The linear increase and following saturation of refractive index at glucose concentration increase were found. Such behavior is explained by glucose effective binding to hemoglobin.
